The Children of Zion

Mt Zion in Israel 2019

As we all know this past Sunday was Mother's Day and I felt it would be appropriate to mention our spiritual mother. "The Bride of God" Just as a person has to have a father and a mother to be born naturally, we must also have a father and a mother to be born again into the family of God. What a privilege to be called the Sons and Daughters of the God of Heaven and earth. We all mostly know and have heard how God is our Father and he sent his only begotten Son to bring us grace and truth. Have you ever thought about the Mother side to the Family of God? Here is a little bit on that very topic.

Isaiah 66:8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

Zion here that travailed was the Holy Prophets that was sent here to be the foreknowledge of God. The suffered greatly for the cause of Christ and the word of God. Like a natural woman that has pains from being in labor, this Zion represents the mother of us all according to Paul

Galatians 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

She “144,000” sure did experience travail to bring forth her children. One of the children Isaiah was speaking of is the Church. “The Daughter Of Zion”

Isaiah 62:10-12 10 Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.

If you get right down to it, it was the prophets who would do this very thing. The gates being the Law, Prophets and Psalms –

Psalms 118:19-20 19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord:20 This gate of the Lord, into which the righteous shall enter.

If you follow the gates, they will lead you to the one gate. Gen 28 Jacob called the house of God the Gate of Heaven. John the Baptist was one of those prophets that was sent to prepare the way of the people and the way of the Lord. It was through the prophecies of the 144,000 that Jesus was to be born by a virgin in the city of David. Through those prophecies we learned of a man child that was to rule all nations, we learn that the church was coming.

11 Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.12 And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the Lord: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.

When this was spoken all of Jesus’s work was before him and Jesus spoke of building his church and the gates of hell wouldn’t prevail against it and it hasn’t yet nor will it ever.

We read of some of the travail of Zion in

Hebrews 11:36-40 36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

Thank God for the work and suffering of the Holy Prophets, because with out them the Church wouldn’t be here. We wouldn’t have so great a salvation. They “The Prophets” without us “The Church” would not be perfected today. They prophesied Jesus was coming, the church was coming and if he didn’t come and the church didn’t come then those prophets would have missed it and been false, but Jesus did come and the Church did come, and through that Resurrection the prophets were made perfect.

Isaiah 66:8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

So, the Church is one of those children, she’s the daughter of Zion. Remember though Isaiah said “Children” plural. The church is the daughter of Zion, but Jesus is her Son.

Hebrews 2:9-12 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

Jesus came here to introduce you and me to his Father, to our Father. If Jesus is indeed our brother than Jerusalem which is above is his mother too.

John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

So, these precious prophets suffered to bring you and me together and bring us to God the father. One of the most heroic and giving mothers in the world, they gave their lives for you and me. They died so we could get the prophecy that the Lord was coming. Being our mother, they are the bride of God.

Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

Just as much as a bride takes her husbands name, this bride took the Fathers name. Jesus resurrected the bride of God and they escorted the Saviour back to the Father.

Daniel 7:13-14 13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Through their work we have this precious book!

Malachi 3:16 Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.

Psalms 87:1-7 His foundation is in the holy mountains.2 The Lord loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.3 Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.

Isaiah 26:19 spoke of a Glorious Resurrected City of God

4 I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there.

God made mention of Zion in Hebrews 11 and he also mentioned Rahab there too

5And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.6 The Lord shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah.7 As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee.

The Lord counted 144,000 when he opened the New Testament, the book that was sealed by the blood of Jesus Christ and was opened with his Resurrection. The Count was made. Thank God for these saints of God that labored for the cause of the gospel. Thank God there is a crowd which no man could number as well. Through the sacrifice of those prophets we now can be in that number.

Hope this has been a blessing to someone. We love you and ask each one of you to pray for us.
